Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
WHAT IS PDT?
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an innovative treatment method involving a topical photosensitizing agent, specifically aminolevulinic acid (ALA), activated by laser light to eliminate targeted cells. ALA is a naturally occurring substance in the body that, when applied topically, is selectively absorbed into damaged skin cells, hair follicles, actinic keratosis lesions (early skin cancers), and sebaceous (oil) glands.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
ALA (photosensitizing agent) is applied to the target areas. After allowing sufficient time for absorption into the skin, the activation process takes place using specific wavelengths of light.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
PDT emerges as an excellent choice for addressing a range of skin concerns, including sun damage, acne and acne scarring, rosacea, age spots, and actinic keratoses, resulting in rejuvenated skin. The benefits encompass enhancements in skin texture and tone, a reduction in pore size, and an overall improvement in appearance. Moreover, PDT brings about a noticeable reduction in rosacea, acne, and sebaceous gland hyperplasia (overgrown oil glands), along with a decrease in skin oiliness. Notably, PDT boasts minimal side effects and a relatively quick recovery time. Its effectiveness extends to the treatment of certain early skin cancers as well.
HOW LONG IS RECOVERY?
Anticipate experiencing redness and peeling for a period of 2-7 days following the treatment. Initially, pigmented lesions may appear darker, but they will eventually peel off. Some swelling may occur as well. It is crucial to avoid exposure to sunlight for 36 hours following the treatment to ensure optimal results.
Carbon Laser Peel
WHAT IS THE CARBON LASER PEEL?
The Carbon Laser Peel is a highly effective procedure targeting acne, skin texture, and overall complexion enhancement. During the treatment, a specialized carbon solution is applied to the skin, and subsequent laser light is employed for activation, killing bad cells and acne-causing bacteria.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The carbon laser peel works by applying activated carbon to the treatment sites and further activating it with a laser. Through this process, we kill acne-causing bacteria, clean your pores, tighten your skin, and improve the post acne hyperpigmentation.
Following the procedure, mild redness may occur, and usually only lasts a few hours. To optimize results, we recommend a series of treatments spaced about a month apart.
The Carbon Laser Peel stands out as a valuable option for those seeking improvements in acne, skin texture, and color, offering a rejuvenated and refreshed appearance with minimal downtime.
